Description

I am seeking a supportive and understanding individual to help me manage my daily life, maintain focus and motivation, and get back into a routine to recover from burnout.

This position is low-intensity and flexible with casual but regular hours (approximately 3-7 hours per week). Depending on our schedules, these hours are likely to be split over a couple of evenings and a morning or afternoon during the week or on the weekend.

I am an Autistic and ADHD 30-year-old working full-time and juggling several roles with the help of my service dog. While I am quite independent, I face challenges with motivation, organization, and decision-making.

I am looking for someone to help reduce the demands and decisions I need to make, allowing me to focus on my work and personal well-being.

Supporter roles:

1. Routine support: Help me re-establish and maintain a routine to reduce the impacts of burnout. This could involve weekly planning of what I have on that week, coming up with and scheduling in self-care activities, and identifying what support I'll need.

2. Transportation and activities: I often struggle with the preparation and transitions required to regularly attend activities I enjoy. This could involve picking me up, taking me to the activity (e.g., dog training), and bringing me home.

3. Task reminders: Help me keep track of tasks I need to complete (particularly life admin). This could involve me communicating via message or text when I think of tasks that need to be done, and you reminding me to complete these at the most practical time to complete them (e.g., in the evening, on the weekend, in the morning).

4. Home support: Sometimes I just need someone present in order to get things done myself (body doubling). This could also involve supporting me to do household chores, keeping me on track when doing life admin or work, and reminding me to use my sensory supports.

5. Community support: Accompany me (and my service dog) when out and about. This could involve running errands, attending events, or even just going out for coffee or for a walk with my dog.

Ideal candidate:

- Comfortable with my service dog: He is a large non-shedding breed who is well compensated for the support he provides (in other words, he is quite spoiled). He loves attention and affection, and is very well behaved on and off duty.

- Access to a reliable vehicle for transporting me and my dog: I do have a full license and my own vehicle but can struggle with this aspect of attending activities and running errands.

- An understanding of neurodiversity-affirming supports and experience supporting neurodivergent adults is a plus. I am comfortable and confident sharing information about my neurodivergence and what supports would work best for me.

Support required:

Household help: Very negotiable and flexible. Many of these I can do myself with support and/or body doubling.

Personal care: No support required.

Meals: Negotiable and flexible. Most of my meals are prepared and cooked for me already.

Shopping: Negotiable and flexible. This would predominantly be to accompany me (and my service dog) occasionally to the supermarket and shops.

Transport: Negotiable and flexible. I do have a full license and vehicle if necessary but being transported is preferable.

My activities: Negotiable and flexible. It is likely that the activities I need help with will be variable. The support I need may sometimes be simply having a support worker present while I complete my activities more or less independently. Other times, I may need them to take a more active role.

If you are interested in this role or if you have any questions, please send me a message sharing a bit about yourself and your ideal role. The specific roles, hours, and pay are negotiable, so please do get in touch if you think we'll have a great dynamic as there is flexibility in the role.
