Description
We are a family who experience disability and we are creating awesome ordinary lives. Our family member is a community developer, a gardener, a gym member, a home renovator, an influencer, and a keen Traveller. He also has a long-term goal to manage his own support team. We are creating a person-directed ecosystem of care.
We are looking for the right person to maintain the health and wellbeing of the pets in our care (1 dog and 1 cat) while building our skills, competence and confidence to be responsible pet owners, to assist our family member grow an identity as pet owner and develop relationships with other pet owners in our neighborhood.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE.
• Building relationships: Assist family to build relationships with other pet owners.
• Walking: Assist family to take our pet for a walk or playtime to help them burn off energy and have fun in their day.
• Feeding our pet: Assist family to give our pet their food, use the recommended amount and type of food for their size and age.
• Providing fresh water: Assist family to make sure our pets have clean and fresh water to drink all day. Clean and fill up the water bowl regularly.
• Cleaning pet areas: Assist family to tidy up our pet's sleeping area and remove any mess or waste.
• Poop patrol: Assist family to make sure to collect it and bin it.
• Grooming: Assist family to regularly groom our pets by brushing their fur or cleaning their teeth, ears, and nails as needed.
DESIRED PERSONAL QUALITIES.
• Values inclusion and citizenship of disabled people
• Good at building relationships
• A passion for animal welfare
• Good physical stamina for standing, walking, and bending.
DESIRED SKILLS.
• Able to follow instructions and take direction well
• Outstanding organizational and time management skills
• Teaching or coaching
• Listening and observing
• Facilitating conversations
DESIRED EXPERIENCE OR QUALIFICATIONS.
• Previous experience working with animals.
• Teaching
• Coaching
OTHER REQUIRMENTS.
• Must be a NZ citizen or resident or have full working rights.
HOURS OF WORK
• Permanent, part time
• During the weekend in the afternoon
